Preliminary Preparations
Prior to utilizing gabion mesh, several preliminary preparatory tasks must be undertaken; specifically, the construction site requires surveying and assessment. Subsequently, site clearing and leveling operations are necessary to ensure that the surface of the construction area is clean, smooth, and free of debris and obstructions.

 

Gabion Box Fabrication
A gabion box typically consists of one or more sections of gabion mesh assembled together, with the interior filled with stones, sand, or other filling materials. During the fabrication process, the dimensions and specifications of the gabion boxes must be customized to meet the specific requirements of the site. Fabrication is completed by bending two or more mesh panels into a U-shaped box structure, joining them together, and then filling the interior with stones or other media.

 

Gabion Mesh Installation
Once the gabion boxes have been fabricated, they must be installed at their designated locations. First, the gabion boxes are positioned at the pre-prepared sites and securely anchored. Next, the gabion mesh is unrolled and fitted over the gabion boxes, ensuring a tight and flush fit between the mesh and the box structure. When connecting the mesh to the box, care must be taken to adjust the tension and orientation of the mesh to achieve optimal protective efficacy.

 

Internal Filling
Upon the completion of the gabion box installation, the interior must be filled with stones, sand, or other filling materials. During the filling process, attention should be paid to the uniformity and density of the fill to ensure the proper weight and stability of each individual gabion box. Once filling is complete, the gabion boxes should be sealed-typically using binding wire or steel rods-to prevent the internal filling materials from spilling out.

 

Subsequent Maintenance
Subsequent maintenance of the gabion mesh is also of critical importance. Throughout its service life, the stability and protective capabilities of the gabion mesh should be inspected and maintained on a regular basis. If any damage is detected in the mesh or the box structure, immediate repairs or replacements should be carried out to ensure that the protective efficacy remains unimpaired.
