Swage-Locked Steel Grating

Swage-locked steel grating is made by pressing crossbars into bearing bars under high pressure, without welding. It gives you high strength, good ventilation, slip resistance, and easy on‑site cutting.

Description

The Swage-locked steel grating uses flat bearing bars and twisted round crossbars. Instead of welding, the swage‑locking process mechanically deforms the crossbar into the bearing bar, creating a joint that stays tight even under heavy vibration. We supply bearing bar sizes like 20×5, 25×3, 25×4, 25×5, 30×3, 30×4, 30×5, 32×3, 32×5, and 40×5 mm. Bearing bar spacing can be 25, 30, 30.16, 32.5, 34.3, 40, 50, 60, 62, or 65 mm. Crossbars are usually 5, 6, 8, or 9 mm twisted round bars. One common setup is the "19‑4" spacing – that means bearing bars 19 mm apart and crossbars 4 mm thick. This gives roughly 80% open area, so water and small debris fall through, but you still get good foot grip.

Advantages

The Swage-locked steel grating has no weld beads that can crack from metal fatigue. The mechanical lock spreads loads evenly. For heavy‑duty platforms or stair treads, it can safely handle point loads of several hundred kilograms per square meter, depending on bar size and spacing. It also costs less than fully welded grating because the process is faster and uses less energy.

Application

This grating works well for industrial walkways, heavy platforms, mezzanine floors, trench covers, and stair treads. It stands up to high‑load places like refineries, power plants, and mines.

FAQ

Q1: Can you customize grating size and thickness?

Yes. We cut panels to your length and width. Bearing bar height and thickness can change based on your load needs. We also follow AS (Australian Standard) specs.

Q2: What shipping methods do you offer?

Sea freight (FCL or LCL) to Australian ports, air freight for urgent orders, and express couriers (FedEx, UPS) for samples. We help with customs documents.

Q3: What materials do you use?

Mild steel (Q235), hot‑dip galvanized steel, and stainless steel 304 or 316. Galvanized and stainless versions resist corrosion well in Australia's coastal or humid areas.
